In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, countless families in North Carolina were left facing unimaginable loss—homes destroyed, communities fractured, and a sense of stability shattered. At The National Mental Health Alliance, we believe that hope begins with a safe place to call home, and healing begins with support and connection.
Building More Than Structures
Our mission in North Carolina goes beyond physical construction. Yes, we’re building safe, durable transitional housing, but each structure represents so much more—it’s a foundation for families to rebuild their lives with dignity and security. These aren’t just walls and roofs; they’re spaces where children can sleep soundly, where families can share meals, and where healing can truly begin.
But we don’t stop at building structures. Each family receives essential supplies—from sleeping bags and propane heaters to refrigerators and basic necessities—to ensure they can start living comfortably right away.
Emotional Support in Times of Crisis
Disasters leave emotional scars that can linger long after the physical damage has been repaired. That’s why mental health support is a core part of our mission. We’re here to provide families with the tools, resources, and compassionate care they need to process trauma, rebuild resilience, and find their path forward.
How It All Comes Together
Our process is built on collaboration and community:
1️⃣ Assessment: Identifying the families and communities most in need
.2️⃣ Construction: Building temporary structures with care and precision.
3️⃣ Delivery & Setup: Ensuring each structure is ready for families to move in.
4️⃣ Ongoing Support: Providing mental health resources and emotional care to foster long-term healing.
Every Hand Makes a Difference
None of this would be possible without the incredible support of our volunteers, donors, and community partners. Whether you’ve given your time, donated supplies, or simply shared our mission, you are a vital part of this journey.
Join Us in Building Hope
There’s still so much work to be done, and YOU can be a part of it. Whether you’re looking to volunteer, donate, or spread the word, every action brings us one step closer to rebuilding lives and restoring hope in North Carolina.
Together, we’re not just building homes—we’re building brighter futures. 🏡💙
