Rebuilding Hope:
A Long-Term Commitment to North Carolina

In the wake of Hurricane Helene, The National Mental Health Alliance has been working tirelessly in North Carolina to provide immediate support, long-term stability, and hope to families affected by the devastation. Our mission extends beyond physical recovery; we are dedicated to building safe, transitional housing, offering mental health support, and ensuring that families have the resources they need to begin rebuilding their lives with dignity and security.

What We Do

Our work in North Carolina focuses on three key areas:

  1. Temporary Structures: We construct durable, safe structures designed to provide families with immediate shelter and a stable foundation to begin recovery. Each building is thoughtfully planned to meet the basic needs of a family while offering comfort and security.

  2. Essential Supplies: We deliver critical resources such as food, blankets, propane heaters, refrigerators, and other daily necessities to help families navigate the early stages of recovery.

  3. Mental Health Support: Disaster recovery isn’t just about rebuilding homes—it’s about healing hearts and minds. Our team provides access to mental health resources, counseling, and emotional support to help families process trauma and build resilience.

How the Process Works

  1. Assessment: We identify families and communities most in need of support through partnerships with local organizations and community leaders.

  2. Construction & Delivery: Our team, along with dedicated volunteers, begins constructing transitional housing structures. Once completed, these structures are delivered and set up for families.

  3. Resource Distribution: Alongside the structures, we ensure that families receive essential supplies to meet their immediate needs.

  4. Ongoing Support: We provide continued mental health resources and emotional support to help families regain stability and move forward with confidence.

The success of our mission depends on the kindness and dedication of people like YOU. Whether you’re looking to volunteer your time, donate supplies, sponsor a structure, or share our story, every effort makes a meaningful difference. No action is too small, and every contribution helps us move closer to our goal of restoring stability and hope to families in crisis.
